What is the most important run of marathon training? Is it the long run. While it very important, all parts of a good training plan matter. Its not just get in a long run in every week.

Consistency is king! When it comes to improving has a runner consistency is key. It takes discipline and motivation to get out there day after day and week after week. Follow your training plan. No that doesn't mean run 7 days a week. Does it mean you can not miss a run? No. Of course not. Missed runs are going to happen.

I have been working with Emily for a while now, Monday April 21 was her fourth marathon since we started working together. It was also her first Boston Marathon.

How did I get here? After running for close to 20 years I decided to try to coach. I tried being a pacer a few times. I was ambassador for a few races. Then in 2022 I got RCCA certified, I started doing some coaching for the Youngstown Road Runners, I found the process enjoyable, I liked helping others improve on there running.

Big goals, like running a marathon or half marathon is a big goal. Trying to Boston Qualify (BQ) can seem like a huge mountain to get over. But you don't have to do it alone. If you want to conquer Everest you will need help. Guides, sherpas a whole crew of people, To tackle the marathon it can take a crew. Training partners to run with, help keep you motivated. Friends to keep you on track can be priceless. Doing a long run alone can be tough. Who else do you need?
