I am a regular contributor on several social media sites, mostly facebook and Instagram. So i often feel i'm an open book. Or am I?
I guess if I haven't coached you might not know a lot about how I coach. I will try to explain that further.
First, I try to get to know my runner. What is his/her life like? When can he run? What days are bad. How long can he run each day?
What races have they run? What's the goal race? Injury history?
Secondly, I start to work on a plan for them. I try to follow the hard/easy approach. I believe the 80/20 method that Matt Fitzgerald. Its a balance to make sure we get the best performance from a runner while avoiding any injuries. Get rid of any niggles. You always perform better healthy!
Third, the nuts and bolts. I use an app called V.02, its a great help to my coaching. It allows to me see the runs soon has they are uploaded from the runners watch. Also I send the run plans and make changes to the plan on the app, once set up they will go straight to the runners watch. Works great with Garmin or Coros, and other smart watches.
I been doing it this way for a few years now and feel it gives me enough versatility to give lots of different workouts. While I do like to keep it simple so the workouts aren't overly complicated, but not so you get bored.
i have been coaching for a few years now and feel this is working well for the runners I have been coaching.
If you want some help reaching your goal in the marathon or half marathon reach out and lets see if it will work for you. You aren't alone!
